2023 Chartered Fishing Trip

How it all began:

Hello, I am Mike Bell, the Founder of Kids Who Hunt and Fish Don't Steal and Deal, Inc.  This is my story of how it started. I am a US Navy Veteran and originally from Whitehall, Ohio. I coached Rosemore Jr. High Football for three years and was an umpire for 25 years around Ohio and one year in Pace, Florida. I am blessed with the ability to communicate with kids on a level that they can understand  to acquire outdoor skills on their own after a little encouragement and learning. I have raised one stepdaughter, and she now lives in OK with her family. I always wanted to be a Big Brother, but in 2008, I was hit by a forklift at work and broke my back. While healing, I moved to Lancaster, Ohio to be closer to my parents.  I have been teaching kids the art of fishing and hunting since 1982. In 2014 I reached out to the local Big Brothers Program and first thing they said was "No hunting, fishing, or archery. So, I started my own program for kids and created the name, which is copyrighted and went to work on what I wanted to accomplish. I hired a lawyer in 2015 and in 2016 I launched the kids program in Lancaster, Ohio. The first year was very stressful and made me want to give up more than a few times. People would say "not my kid, not my problem" and continued to belittle the program. As my skin got thicker I ignored them pushing forward. Myself, Dulton Watson, and Marvin Mclain are now building for the future of kids. We have been very blessed with the donations and people that believe and support this program.  I have been happier these last 5 years than I ever have and I wouldn't change anything we've been through; It's made our group stronger and more focused. We are off to a great start and looking forward to the future with you and your kids. 

NOTE: no one gets paid to do this for your kids. Each volunteer pays for their own gas and food.  Everything we take in goes back to the kids; we are 100% about community. 

What We've Accomplished to Date

2021 was the start of our 5th year and to date our volunteer administration has taught more than 300 kids and some adults how to fish.

• 19 kids have gone bow hunting with everyone seeing deer and two bucks killed. 
• 90 fishing poles given to kids who didn't have a pole and four  kids fishing derbies with every kid getting a prize.
•  Four hunting heroes built our 8 ft. by 8 ft. handicapped hunting blind for free and we are working on building a secondblind on another section of my property in Perry County, OH. Tad Kidd from Etna, Ohio will build the 2nd blind.

FISHING: Any parent wants to get their children involved and don't know the Do's and Dont's to get you started. No cost, this is completely free. To arrange this, feel free to message us on our Contact Us page or   Inside you will find what our program is about and how you can help make a difference in a kids life. Pograms currently available include:   

• Fishing & Fly Fishing  through the remainder of 2021 by appointment only      (749) 409-1883- Mike Bell
• Trapping & Survival (Fishing and trapping is free to all ages; this includes adults)  
• Bee Keeping (Scholarships available to Kids ages 8 - 16) 
• Filmed hunts for kids (Sign-ups are completed on our Facebook page In August for bow hunts in October and new this year-Spring Turkey Hunt for Ohio Kids) We are located in Lancaster and Marion, Ohio.  But the great outdoorsmen that follow us are willing to help out in other states.   

If you have stocks that need to be sold, a 401K or IRA that you don't want to pay the taxes on and would rather have the tax write off, you can donate it to the Kids Group and receivet a write-off and or non-profit benefits as well.
